Unitarian Universalist Church (Kenya)

Emerging Group
Kenyans began to discover Unitarianism and Universalism in the mid-2000's through internet connections. Some of these first people were leaders of small Seventh Day Adventist communities in the province of Kisii. After contact was made with the ICUU and the UUA, the first of several training opportunities were arranged in early 2008. Several congregations formed despite the nation being in political turmoil. Over the past several years, the leadership managed to consolidate the various leaders and groups forming the UUCK and gaining legal status. UUCK was formally given emerging group status at the Council Meeting of 2014. The hallmark of Kenyan Unitarian Universalism is concern for others. The social justice and poverty relief projects are a gathering point of the community as much as the lively worship services.
